Homework # 6 Read the following experiment, and answer all questions below. Write the question and your answer on looseleaf. Don't forget your heading and homework assignment number (6). Louie heard that plants compete for space. He decided to test this idea. He bought a mixture of flower seeds and some potting soil. Into each of 5 plastic cups he put the same amount of soil. In the first cup he planted 2 seeds, in the second cup he planted 4 seeds, in the third cup he planted 8 seeds, in the fourth cup he planted 16 seeds, and in the last cup he planted 32 seeds. After 25 days he decided which set of plants looked best.
1.State the problem (the big question!) Louie wants to answer 2. What is the independent variable? (what does he change?) 3. What is the dependent variable? (what does he measure?) 4. Write your own hypothesis for this experiment. Use the form "If (independent variable), then (dependent variable) 5. List three constants 6. What is the control? (the one he treats "normally?")

Homework # 3 On the top of your looseleaf, write your heading Write the assignment number (#3) Write the question and answer for each Read textbook p. 6-14 Answer p. 14, . 1-4
HOMEWORK #2 NOTE: This assignment is to see what you learned last year Do your best- we will be going over this homework TOGETHER tomorrow, so it is important to do it on time and bring it in! STEPS: 1.Don't forget to write you heading and the assignment number (1) at the top of the page. 2. Write each question followed by your answer (you don't have to write the paragraph). If you don't know an answer, take your best guess. 3. Skip a line between each question so that you can make corrections in class.
Chloe wanted to find out if the color of a food would affect how quickly kindergarten children would eat it for lunch. She believed that brightly colored food would be eaten more quickly because of the urgency of the color. She put food coloring into 4 identical serving bowls filled with mashed potatoes. A 5th identical bowl received only plain natural mashed potatoes. The colors were natural white, red, blue, green, and yellow. Each child was given a scoop of potatoes. Chloe did this experiment using 50 kindergarten students. 10 students were given each of the colors. She recorded the start and finish time of each student eating the potatoes and then calculated the difference in seconds. She did this over 5 days with each student getting each color. Multiple data takers (Chloe’s friends) made this experiment possible. QUESTIONS 1. State the problem Chloe wants to answer (question): 2. What is the independent variable? 3, What is the dependent variable? 4. List two constants 5. What is the control for this experiment?
Homework # 1 You will do a project called "My lab coat"-best ones will go on the bulletin boards! Steps: 1) Use the sheet I gave you in class!
